Focused on turning out styles designed to have long shelf-lives at retail, Intercon supplies brick and mortars with exclusive designs of broad appeal produced by its in-house team. Though a deliberately low-key brand, Intercon and its sister Westwood Design have been in expansion mode for the past few years. Still offering the same quality, value and style for which the West Coast-based concern is known, the company has been busy greatly increasing available designs, price points and construction options. Indeed, long known primarily for solid wood casegoods, today Intercon offers a broad expanse of stylish veneer collections as well.
The Westwood Design division makes furnishings built to last from a child’s birth, through adolescence and beyond, one of the few traditional furniture companies producing quality nursery furnishing, in addition to youth. Using solid wood and quality veneers secured with steel inserts, English dovetail joints, corner blocks and more, safety and durability are the priority here, along with good-looking collections that can’t be found elsewhere.
- With a history in solid wood case goods, Intercon re-entered the home office category last Fall in a big way, with five collections that build on best-sellers in bedroom and dining. More are in the pipeline.
- The ability to offer coordinated collections sets Intercon apart from other importers, and the company has been stepping to answer demand for theater-style seating, and occasional pieces that work with its dining.
- Headquartered in Salt Lake City, family owned and operated Intercon manufacturers in Vietnam and Malaysia, servicing retailers across the country via three domestic warehouses. Additionally, the company is one of the few furniture industry resources producing quality nursery and youth furnishings collections via its Westwood Design division.
